If my friend died in a car accident in my vehicle, will my full coverage still pay for damages and for death?
Tuesday, October 03, 2006 7:07 PM
My vehicle was stolen. I reported it to the police and insurance co. After 14 days the insurance settled a claim. I had to send the title and keys to the insurance company and I received my settlement. A few days later the vehicle was recovered and other than a busted steering column there is very little damage. Do I have to pay the settlement money back to the insurance company?

Someone purchases a car and gets it insured, plus they purchase additional GAP insurance. They later cancel the regular insurance, but keep paying for the GAP policy. If they total their car, does GAP still kick in even though there is no "regular" insurance? Would GAP just figure the value of the car and pay the difference owed on the loan?

My husband got in a car accident a week ago. The car is pretty bad. The replacement value of the car is $10,000. We went to the dealer to see about getting a new one, if the insurance company decides to "total" it. The sales manager said we would be able to take the check from the insurance company & being that their body shop is doing the estimate, we could turn the car in as a trade in. I have 2 questions: 1. Do we get to get a check for the ACV and keep the car? 2. If the insurance company does "total" it out, can we insist that they fix it if the ACV isn't around the replacement value?

I was parked and someone hit my car. I don't know who it was. I don't have comp. or collision but do have uninsured motorist property damage. Am I covered for the repairs?

I was run off to the side of the road by a car while on my bicycle and I hit a parked car. The car that nearly ran me over sped off. My wife and I don't have a car so we don't have auto insurance. The damage to the parked car was minimal but I was given a $740 estimate to fix the tail light cover. Am I responsible for paying all of this damage even if my alternative was being hit by a moving car?

I was driving down the street and swerved to avoid a child running into the street. I ended up hitting a boulder in my neighbor's yard. It did not cause any property damage to the neighbor. I am curious what I should expect to see from my insurance company. Is this type of accident something that will drastically increase my rates?

My car was hit in the rear while waiting to make a left hand turn at a traffic signal controlled intersection. As a result of the accident, my vehicle was totaled. After the accident I notified my insurance company, which provided the tow to the insurance company's preferred collision repair center with the insurance adjuster in house. Since the other driver was at fault, their insurance appears to be handling the situation and has provided me with a rental car and information for medical coverage payments for my injuries. (1) Should I proceed awaiting the other insurance company's actions or should I just work through my insurance company? (2) If I decide to work the accident through my insurance company, would this accident go on my insurance record, even though I was not at fault?

My car front bumper was hit by another car and my vehicle was declared total loss by the other driver's insurance company. I fixed the bumper and have been driving for a year with liability insurance. I heard from the other driver's insurance company, if the car is less than 8 years from the date of manufacture, then the title need to be changed to salvage title. My car was 10 years old when the accident occurred so the title was not changed to a salvage title. Question: Can I sell my vehicle just for a reasonable price?

I was rear ended while stopped at a red light. We exchanged information and he said he would call the claim in when he got home; the damage was minor so we did not call the police. He originally gave me the wrong insurance information, but the police gave me the correct insurer. I called his insurer and explained to them what happened, they have been trying to call him ever since. It is a week later and he has not called his insurer to make the claim or to return their phone calls or mine. I was wondering what will happen if he never calls his insurer back or answers their letters?

Can an at fault party's insurance company (Geico) require that you take your car to their preferred body shop to meet an adjuster in order to get your settlement for minor damage to your car? My car was parked legally and I was not in it when it was hit. Geico is giving me appointment times between 8:30 am and 12:30 pm during weekdays only. This does not work out with my work schedule so they suggested that I have a friend do it but I don't have any friends that are available to do this either. I live in TN and this occurred in TN. Do I have any other options? Can I insist that an adjuster come to my house or work?

Our baby sitter drives our car with PLPD Michigan No Fault. She was hit by another auto and the other driver stated it was her fault and they exchanged information. The damage to our auto is probably less than $500.00. Since it was the other driver's fault can I get any money for damages to my car?

My two car were paid up, but I borrow another loan against them. One of the cars has been stolen, how will my insurance handle my situation? The loan has both car listed as collateral, I want to know if my insurance company will pay just for the car that is stolen and I would still have a out-standing loan or will they pay off the entire loan?

My wife's van was hit in the parking lot with very minimal damage. She called our agent and filed a claim. The insurance company wants us to pay a deductible of $500 which is actually greater than the cost of getting the van fixed. Could we just quit the claim and get it fixed on our own so we don't need to pay the $500 deductible?

My boyfriend had an accident in my car earlier this year. My insurance covered most of the damage. Now, almost 8 months later, I have received a bill from my states transportation dept for the guard rail he hit. This bill is over $1600. The guard rail was on a federal highway. First, is this common practice to charge individuals for damage to things like guard rails, telephone poles, etc? I thought this was covered by taxes. Next, will my insurance cover this? What would guard rail damage fall under on an insurance plan?

I was driving down the highway at a speed of 65 when out of nowhere a 2x4 piece of wood came at me and struck my grill and left bumper. Am I responsible for the $500 deductible on this accident? I was totally unable to avoid the flying wood. Will there be a surcharge to my insurance policy?

The other drivers insurance wants to total my car, give me a check, and they keep my car. I just want for my car to be fixed. I'm in Texas. What are my rights?
