I mailed my car insurance payment and I just received my statement that says I am past due. We had a very bad ice storm with power outages and the post office system was messed up. What do I do about that past due notice? Do I have a late payment? Is there anyway to get it credited back to the account due to the storm?

I called my insurance agent and was told I do not need to add my 16 year old on our auto policy while taking driver's education, because I am giving her permission to drive my car. Why do I need to have her added when she gets her license and pay the extra premium? I am still giving her permission to use the car occasionally just like I would be giving permission for instance to a friend to use my car.

If my husband and I live in my parents' basement and we have our own car insurance, do I still need to have my dad on my car insurance policy - even though he does not drive my car? (My parents' car insurance company says they need another policy with just my car with his name on it, but I feel like it is unnecessary.)

I currently have a 40% discount for being a good driver, will all that go away?

About two years ago, I recieved a DUI in Mississippi. I was told that in order to retain my Mississippi driver's license, I would need to buy SR22 insurance. I never retained my license, because I went away to the marine corps. I just got back from Iraq three weeks ago, and I am interested in getting a new license in California. If I have to still pay the SR22 insurance, will it pick up now. Or, will I just have to pay for the remaining time I still owe? How does this work?

I heard that by not having "non owner" car insurance your rates would significantly increase when purchasing a car in the future. Is this true? (The only reason I bought the non owner car insurance is because I thought I would be penalized when I did decide to buy a car.)
