Car Insurance Question  I've had my 2004 car for 8 months and I crashed into a tree on Easter. I had let my insurance lapse months ago so I did not have insurance coverage. I was hospitalized for four weeks. Should I report it to my finance company? What will happen? Will they sue me?

Your lien holder requires that you carry physical damage coverage (coverage to your auto) to ensure that any damage to your vehicle will be repaired. Since you did not have coverage, you will ultimately be responsible for repairing your vehicle as well as being liable for any other damage you caused. Some lien holder's force place coverage when they are notified that you do not have your own policy. It is possible that since a long period of time has gone by that they have done this. If so, your vehicle may be covered for this loss.

CarInsurance.com can not offer any legal advice regarding your policy. You may want to consult an attorney to determine your rights as well as your legal obligations.

Let us give you a car insurance quote and get you covered.
