Two weeks ago my car was stolen but classified as unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. Should I cancel my insurance and registration, or will I personally be held responsible if anything should happen, accident or otherwise, in the meantime?

You should not be liable for anything since your vehicle was stolen and there is an official record of that. You had no control in this situation.

If you will be getting a new car and would like to know how much it will be to insure you can obtain a direct insurance quote here.

Visitor Comments
car insurance commentsThank you for your response and assuring me that I should not be held liable, as there is record of my car being taken with all authorities necessary. There were some different opinions on that. The reason it is classified as unauthorized use of a motor vehicle is that I gave permission for a person to use it and they never returned it. I will contact my insurance company & DMV as to cancellation with them. Thanks again.
