I am in the process of purchasing a Porsche to be only used on weekends for pleasure. In order to secure a better loan rate, my partner is willing to apply as a joint applicant. Because we are applying for joint financing do we also have to get a joint insurance policy? I'd like to add the car to my existing policy and not include him as a driver, as he has a poor driving record. Would he have to be named on my auto insurance policy as a driver if he cosigns for the vehicle?

Your partner would not have to be listed as a driver on your policy if he simply co-signs your loan. If he were to be a co-purchaser then he may have to be listed as a driver. You should still disclose him as a household resident if you live together. If so, you should be able to exclude him from your policy.

If you like to find out how much insurance will cost on the Porshe you can get a low insurance quote here.
