Car Insurance Question  I own two vehicles. One had full coverage, the other had comprehensive. I was planning on giving the second car (with comprehensive) to my son. He was planning on taking his drivers license exam with that car. One night he got behind the wheel and drove that car and got into an accident and was charged for having no license and for not reporting the accident immediately after. There is a category under comprehensive called malicious mischief. I consider it mischief. In my opinion, it is not

Most insurance companies require that you disclose all household members on your policy. You may have the option of excluding them. In other words, choosing to sign a waiver stating that they will not drive your covered vehicle(s) in exchange for not having to pay a higher rate. Some insurance companies do not automatically cover young drivers who obtain a learning permit. It is possible that your insurance company was unaware of your son's driving status or you may have signed an exclusion. In addition, damages to your vehicle would not be covered unless you also have collision coverage. This would not be considered a comprehensive claim. You always have the option of seeking legal counsel if you are not satisfied with their decision to not pay your claim.

If you will need to get insurance for this vehicle you can obtain a car insurance quote here.
