I am a new driver and just got my first car. I have not had car insurance previously. I need my vehicle to get back and forth to work and school. I am 16 years old. My Mom is a single parent and does not want my insurance to be on hers. What is my course of action to get insurance at a reasonable rate?

You can purchase your own insurance if you register the car in your name. You will need to include your mother on your policy as she is a household member and all household members need to be disclosed. You did not tell the kid the liability his mother could have in the event he kills someone or damages very expensive property. I dont think it is a good idea for his mother to sign for him. What if he was 18 years of age then what?
