Can an individuals auto insurance policy be used to pay for damages made to a government vehicle while driving the government vehicle?

Your insurance policy would cover damages to your vehicle or another vehicle that you damage while driving your vehicle. In some cases your coverage also extends to a rental car. However, it would not cover the government vehicle you were driving and damaged. Most government vehicles are self-insured. You should contact whomever handles claims for the government vehicle you were driving and damaged.
