Car Insurance Question  Im 24 and just moved to North Carolina from Michigan. I formerly had a policy in Michigan on a car registered there. I recently had to salvage my car and so cancelled my policy. A friend has offered to lend me his car while I look for a new one. Do I need to have my own policy, or will I be covered by his policy?

Most insurance companies will extend coverage to temporary drivers. Your friend's insurance policy should provide coverage for you while driving his car. He should check with his insurance agent to determine if this is so. You may consider purchasing a non-owners policy which would provide additional coverage for you while operating any non-owned vehicle such as your friend's car.

You can comparison shop for a non-owners policy here. You can also comparison shop for an auto policy for whatever vehicle you many be considering or actually buy. Our quotes are always FREE.
