Car Insurance Question  I was at work when a customer came in and told me he had backed up into my pick-up. I got 2 estimates and he wants to write me a check and not file a claim. My question is would it be illegal for me to file a collision claim with my insurance company and pay my deductible and pocket his check? If I did would that effect my insurance rates?

This situation has more to do with morals than it does the law. You should not seek to make a claim if you will receive compensation for the loss from another party. It is also possible that your insurance premiums could increase as a result of a claim made against your policy. Ultimately you will make the final decision.
