I had an accident with an uninsured drive back in June. My car was written off, and I have been waiting to hear from my insurance company for a claim settlement figure. The engineer's report has been sent over to the claim service numerous times, but the claim service is stating they haven't received anything. What is my best option? I am in need of a settlement figure. I need a new car badly now, and my insurance company keeps on messing me about?

To expedite matters, have the engineer's report faxed directly to you. Get the name of someone at your claim service. Fax the report directly to that person. Verify that person received the fax. Continue to follow-up with the person you sent the fax to for any updates. If you feel the claims service is continuing to delay unnecessarily, call your state's department of insurance (or department of financial services). They may be able to influence the claims service into more expeditious help.
