Q

Can I have insurance on a salvage car?

A

Yes you can. It can be difficult to insure a vehicle with a salvage title because most insurance companies list it as an unacceptable vehicle.

Keep in mind that if you do buy this car with the salvage title or rebuilt title it may be difficult to obtain insurance on it. Due to the previous condition of the car, many insurance companies will not insure a vehicle with a salvage title or if they do, it is only for liability and not for physical damage coverages (collision and comprehensive).

For many liability is all they are interested in, so that is not a big issue. You may be able to get insurance through J.U.A. (Joint Underwriters Association) . This is a company run by the state to insure people that can get insurance elsewhere.
