It is recommended that one should always purchase as much insurance as they can afford, however I do not see where you could even purchase Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist coverage or Medical Payments for your trailer since people should not be in the trailer but in the truck pulling it and thus covered by that vehicle's insurance policy.
Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist Bodily Injury (UM) coverage will only apply if the other party is at fault in the accident and would cover you and others in your tow vehicle. UM covers you, the insured members of your household and your passengers for bodily/personal injuries, damages, or death caused by an at-fault uninsured or hit-and-run driver. If you are involved in an accident where the other driver is at fault but has no insurance, your policy will cover your medical expenses, up to the limit on your policy.
Medical Payments (Med Pay) covers medical expenses to you and your passengers injured in an accident. There may also be coverage if as a pedestrian a vehicle injures you. This coverage applies, regardless as to who is at fault. With Medical Payments, there is no coverage for injuries while occupying an auto for business purposes, other than a private passenger auto, owned pickup or van, or a trailer used with one of these.
Many insurance policies will cover a trailer that you pull behind your personal vehicle but not all policies do so check to make sure your Liability does extend to your trailer so that if it somehow caused damage to others or their property your insurance would cover the damages. If your policy does not than you may need to get a separate policy for the trailer. You would not normally need UM or Med Pay for a trailer since the driver and passengers of the towing vehicle would be covered by that vehicle's Uninsured Motorist and Medical Payments coverages and the trailer is not something that would normally need any medical coverages attached to it.
