We moved from MA to NH in February 2005. My husband was able to register his vehicle, right away. I had to wait until all the paperwork went through due to a loan on my car and it took until June before I could register my vehicle. I was waiting until my car was registered before I went and changed over my auto insurance from MA to NH. You will need to get the proper insurance for the state you are living. If you did not inform the old company you moved , they could deny a claim based on material misrepresentation. Most states allow you 10 days to switch over the information, otherwise you can be fined.
