There are auto insurance companies that will allow you to purchase a policy with a suspended driver's license. They will however require you to reinstate your license within thirty (30) to forty-five (45) days from your policy's inception date. If you fail to reinstate it and provide this proof to your insurance company within the allotted time it will result in your new policy being cancellation.
You should also check to make sure that you are able to register a car in your state with your license being under suspension. Also in some states it is not only your license that is suspended due to a lapse in car insurance or driving without insurance but your registration is suspended as well. In some of these states not only is your registration suspended on the vehicle that was without insurance but also they do not allow you to register another vehicle until your suspension period is over. So before buying a new car check with your state's Department of Motor Vehicles to make sure you can register a vehicle while you are under your suspension(s).
You may also want to check to see if you will need to file a SR-22 when you reinstate your license. Many times this is required as part of the reinstatement process of your license after a suspension due to being uninsured. If you will need a SR22 then shop around for an auto insurance company now that will be able to file that for you.
