I live in California and stay part-time with family in Waxahachie, Texas. I just bought a new GMC truck in Texas, and they say I must have Texas insurance. (My California insurance won't work.) Can I get Texas insurance even though I live most of the time in California.

It is possible to purchase insurance in Texas if you live most of the time in California. Most insurance companies will not insure you if you live most of the time in another state. However, if you are being told you need Texas insurance, chances are you will find an insurance company to meet your insurance needs. Texas has a company that helps provide insurance to extremely high risk drivers and extremely high risk situations. The name of the insurance company is 'Texas Automobile Insurance Plan Association.' You can reach them at 1-800-580-8247.
