Car Insurance Question  I just got my first speeding ticket. It was in a different state than which I live. Will my insurance go up a lot because it was my first ticket and in a different state?

Any violation you receive goes on your motor vehicle report. It does not matter in which state you are licensed. Nor does it matter in what state you get the ticket. Also, if you move, any tickets you receive with your current state driver's license will follow you to your new state of residence, and the driver's license you receive from that state. Now, each company handles insurance points differently. The auto insurance company uses a point system under which assigns their individual values to each type of traffic convictions and accident claim. Its effect on your insurance premium will depend on the severity of this speeding ticket.
