If you hit a parked car, are you required to go to court? (Mind you, I am 17 and just received my license.) I have informed the police about the accident I caused but instead of an exchangement of insurances, I was issued a ticket for reckless driving. Now, I am required to attend court within a month if I want to maintain my license. I wasn't reckless, I was attempting to park my car at 2-5 mph.

If the police tell you it is mandatory for you to go to court, it is mandatory for you to go to court. However, this may not be a bad thing. It will give you a chance to tell the judge your side of the story. (I am not an officer, but I believe a 'reckless driving' ticket is a bit excessive.) Also, since you are a minor, your parents need to be involved. Until you turn 18 years old, they are responsible for you and your actions. As a result, their assets may be exposed right now. They may want to seek legal advice to help they and you through this.
