I am twenty-four years old and have my learner's permit. The MVA said I can get a car legally registered in my name...with insurance. Can I get insurance in my name with my learner's permit?

Most insurance companies will allow you to purchase a policy with a learner's license. However, they will probably require that you obtain your regular driver's license within thirty to forty-five days from your policy's inception date. If the company requests proof of your regular driver's license and you fail to provide it to them, they will cancel your policy. Also, to take out your policy, the insurance companies may require you list someone on your policy who is at least 21 years old and has a regular driver's license.
