I got a ticket for going 65 in a 55, and the officer told me that it would not go on my driving record. Therefore, will the insurance companies find out about it?

Insurance companies only find out about tickets by your motor vehicle report. If the violation does not go on your driving record, the insurance companies will not find out about it.

However, if you received a ticket, it will go on your motor vehicle report. The officer may have been referring to traffic school. If you go to traffic school, the violation may show up on your record, but the points do not. (And, as a result, the insurance companies will not know anything about it.) For the most part, this is a minor violation. If it was your first ticket, you might not see any change in your rates. Because, most insurance companies do not charge for a single minor violation.
