I was convicted of DWI first offense in September 2005, and I am now required to have SR22 insurance for 3 years. My license was reinstated before the conviction, so I didn't have to show proof of SR22 filing when I got my license reinstated. What happens from here? Do I go ahead and get SR22 Insurance on my own or wait until I receive a notice from the Office of Motor Vehicles?

I would be pro-active and contact the Office of Motor Vehicles for the case number for the DWI. I would then go and purchase the SR22 insurance policy. When it comes to righting a wrong, it always looks better in the eyes of your state that you trying to be pro-active opposed to reactive. Also, it is possible that the reinstatement was for a separate suspension.
