My car was involved in an accident over the weekend. I gave my friend permission to drive my car, and I was not in the car. My friend was speeding and ended up totaling my car. Will he be at fault for the accident? Will my insurance have to pay? If they do pay, will he ever have to pay for totaling my vehicle?

If your friend caused the accident, he will be "at fault" for the accident.

Since you gave him permission to use your vehicle, your insurance company may extend coverage to the limits of the coverage you purchased, unless there are unknown policy exclusions.

If the insurance company determines that you have coverage for the accident and they pay your claim, he will not have to pay for totaling your vehicle unless the insurance company seeks damages from him.
