About two years ago, I recieved a DUI in Mississippi. I was told that in order to retain my Mississippi driver's license, I would need to buy SR22 insurance. I never retained my license, because I went away to the marine corps. I just got back from Iraq three weeks ago, and I am interested in getting a new license in California. If I have to still pay the SR22 insurance, will it pick up now. Or, will I just have to pay for the remaining time I still owe? How does this work?

Chances are you will need to carry a Mississippi sr22 to get your California driver's license. If this is the case, you will need to purchase California insurance that has liability coverages that meets the needs of California and Mississippi. Also, you will need to carry the sr22 for a full three years. It should not be for the remaining time only.

car insurance commentsMy situation is similar. I an required to carry a SR22 policy in Tenn because I got a DUI while living in TENN with TENN license. I live in Miss now with MISS license but have to continue carrying the SR22 in Tenn. I am trying to find out if I can maintain the SR22 policy on my Miss insurance using the Tenn requirements. I am looking for a cheaper way for providing the two states with coverage. Any suggestions.
