If someone is 17, living with a non-family member, and gets a lerner's permit, will the auto insurance go up for the non-family member?

Most insurance companies require that the non-family member disclose all household members on his/her policy. That person may have the option of excluding you. In other words, choosing to sign a waiver stating that you will not drive the non-family member's covered vehicle(s) in exchange for not having his/her premiums increase. Also, some insurance companies do not automatically cover young drivers who obtain a learning permit. Other companies will cover a driver with a learner's permit. Some insurance companies do not charge extra for a driver with a learner's permit. The non-family member will need to contact his/her insurance company and discuss what action would be best to suit his/her insurance needs.
