I am British and will be visiting friends in Florida for a holiday. I will have permission to drive the husband's car but want to know what I should do about insurance?

You will need to speak to the "husband's" insurance company or rental car company. (Or, he will need to do it.) They should be able to let you know if they will cover you while you drive his vehicle. They may also have some stipulations that will prevent covering you while you drive it. You may also want to look into purchasing a "non owner" policy. A "non owner" policy usually provides coverage for liability, medical payments, and uninsured motorist coverages for someone who does not own a vehicle and will be operating a vehicle owned by someone else. However, you may have to obtain your Florida driver's license for this policy.
