My husband was involved in an auto accident. The other driver was at fault. He is currenlty under doctor's care and is out of work. He is self-employed. When will he recieve money for lost wages? Or, does he have to wait for settlement before he will receive any money for lost wages?

You, or your husband, should contact his insurance company to see what coverages will apply for this accident. After that, if any of his coverages apply to his accident, you (or your husband) will want to ask them how expeditiously they will pay for this claim. Also, your husband will want to contact the other party's insurance company. They may have coverages that apply (like Bodily Injury Liability and Property Damage Liability). Your husband may also want to seek legal help with his situation.
