My car was damaged while parked by another car backing into it. Damages are approx. $2000. Must I report this accident to my insurance company, even though no claim will be filed with them?

Whenever you are involved in an accident, your insurance company needs to know, even if they will not end up paying anything for it. Reporting the claim helps them protect their financial interests in your accident. If for some reason the at-fault individual's insurance company does not want to pay for your damages your insurance company will be aware of the situation and know what steps to take next.

The News Article of Accident: What To Do may help explain more about who all should be contacted after any incident.
