I called my insurance agent and was told I do not need to add my 16 year old on our auto policy while taking driver's education, because I am giving her permission to drive my car. Why do I need to have her added when she gets her license and pay the extra premium? I am still giving her permission to use the car occasionally just like I would be giving permission for instance to a friend to use my car.

Ultimately, you will need to ask this to your insurance company. In general, insurance companies want you to list all drivers on your policy who will drive your vehicle with any kind of regularity or frequency. When it comes to household residents, in general, insurance companies want you list all drivers on your policy for anyone who will drive your vehicle.
