I have a vehicle that I am not going to be using for some time, but I do not want to sell it. My mother would like to have the use of the vehicle. I live in New Mexico and she lives in Alabama. Can she put insurance on the vehicle? Or, is there a way for me to list her as a driver on my insurance? I will still be making payments on the vehicle.

If you want your mother to insure your vehicle, you will need to check with your vehicle's lienholder to make sure that they will approve it. After that you will need to check with New Mexico and Alabama to see how their rules will apply to your situation. From there, you will need to find an insurance company that will meet your insurance needs. Now, if your mother is able to insure your vehicle, she may have a hard time finding an insurance company that will allow her to insure your vehicle. In general, insurance companies do not allow people to insure vehicles in which they have no insurable interest.
