A friend recently wreck my car. I felt the car would be totaled. My friend's insurance agent came out and estimated the damages to be about $2,600 and claimed the car was worth almost $4,700. In my opinion, there is no way my car is worth that much, especially when I look it up. My questions is I thought if damages are greater than 70% of the cars value, then the car is considered totaled?

There is no set percentage for an adjuster to determine a total loss versus a repairable vehicle.

It is up to the adjuster and the company guidelines that he is taught to follow.

If you are unhappy, you should let them know your concerns and they should re-evaluate you claim.
