Can I still put thru a car claim? Since the accident the third party's insurance expired 2 days later.

As long as the third party's insurance was still in effect or within their coverage period at the time of the accident it would seem to reason that you should be able to put through the claim. I would call up the insurance company involved and discuss the incident and your concerns with them. They should be able to answer the questions that you have.
