I recently got a ticket for driving with out a license in New York state. I had driven off the road and a cop came. I was not on a main road and no one got hurt and no one else was involved. Will I still be able to get my license?

In the summer of 2005 the governor of New York signed in legislation that allows stiffer penalties for those found driving without a license in the state of New York. There are a couple of variables that will affect if you are able to get your license. One is if you were written up for your violation by the police officer. If you were you need to take care of that citation and call the DMV to see if you are able to get your license.

If your license has been suspended being stopped while driving is a crime in the State of New York and the penalties can be heavy fines and jail time. If you were cited for driving with a suspended license or revoked license it is not likely that you will be able to get you license back anytime soon. Either way contact the DMV to find out the status of your license.

Once you have your license if you need insurance come to us first for a New York insurance quote.
