Your insurance adjuster appears to be correct. The collision part of your policy covers damage caused when your vehicle hits, or is hit by, another vehicle, or other object. The coverage should thus allow your car to be repaired for the damages done by the object that hit your car, less your deductible. The comprehensive portion of your policy covers your car if it is stolen or damaged by fire, flood or animals. Our learning center has sections such as coverage definitions you might find helpful.
