A deer ran into the side of my Jeep Liberty. When I turned this over to my insurance company I was told that I had to pay the $250.00 deductible and the claim was filed under my comprehensive coverage. The body shop that estimated the damage to my vehicle told me that because the deer ran into my car that I should not have to pay the deductible. Your insurance company is correct that colliding with an animal, such as a deer, is covered under the comprehensive portion of your auto insurance policy. Under most circumstances when a claim is made to this part of your policy the deductible amount (which you chose when starting the policy) will apply.
