Car Insurance Question  My husband and I live in MA while he is in graduate school. We have changed our address to MA, but our drivers licenses and all car insurance and registration is still PA. I am working here while he is in school. The insurance is in both of our names. We have no plans to locate here permanently and I have called our insurance company and all they said we have to do is change our address to receive our bills. Do I need anything in writing stating this or will be in trouble if we get in an accident?

I would suggest getting something from your insurance company in writing. Also it would be smart to check with the Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles (RMV) since each state has its own laws about the length of time you can reside in their state before needing to register and license yourself and your vehicle with them.

Some state laws and insurance guidelines say that you must insure your car in the state that you reside in the most months out of the year. If this is Massachusetts and not Pennsylvania then you might need to change your insurance to MA from PA. Check with both your insurance company and RMV to get concrete answers.
