I live in TN - a friend was driving my car and he has an expired license and I have no insurance. A fender bender was involved and the other party called the police. Do I have any responsibility in this or would it fall to the driver of my car?

Yes, you hold some responsibility in this situation since you allowed a person without a valid license to drive your vehicle that was uninsured. The owner of an automobile is liable for actions of anyone that, with their permission, drives their car. If the driver was at fault, and you do not have insurance, the driver's insurance policy could also be gone after - if it is still enforce even with the driver's license being expired.

Besides being responsible for the damages, you might also be cited for allowing an uninsured car to be driven. A conviction for failure to provide evidence of financial responsibility (car insurance) is a Class C misdemeanor in Tennessee. This is punishable by a fine of not more than $100 and a driver's license suspension. If you do not receive a citation in the mail you might check with the DMV to make sure you were not cited.
