If you were issued a ticket for no insurance on a vehicle that you did not own you should first determine if the citation was written to you personally or the vehicle. In some states the law enforcement officer has the choice of citing the vehicle (owner) or the driver of an uninsured vehicle.

Some states will suspend your license and require you to obtain proof of insurance with regards to your state's financial responsibility laws if the ticket was written against you personally.
