Car Insurance Question  I am looking at buying a car that had a Salvage title. The delaer told me it was inspected by the state inspector and passed, also that there was a new vin number. The new vin number is not complete. How do I know if my insurance company will transfer my current policy to the new vehicle? I had suspended it due to my car getting "totaled" by them. Does the dealer of the new car have to provide me a copy of the inspection so that I can provide it to my insurance company? Can my inurance company refuse to provide coverage on it?

Before making your final decision about purchasing a car with a salvage title check with your insurance company to make sure they will insure it. Some insurance companies will refuse to insure this type of titled vehicles while others might insure it but only with liability coverage and not comprehensive or collision.

States vary on how they deal with salvage titled vehicles as well. Some do not allow them on the roads without being changed into a rebuilt title. This might be what happened with this vehicle since it passed inspection and has a new VIN number. If your insurance company will insure this vehicle you should definitely get a copy of the inspection to have on file.
