While I was parked a car has hit my car so I'm not at fault, they have insurance as do I. For the period of time it will take for my car to be fixed, I will be without a car. I live in a remote area and have children, can I get help from the other persons insurance company to get a hire car and would this be part of my claim? Or is a courtesy car from the panel beater my only option, if they have one.

It might be possible that the at-fault's insurance policy has a provision for a rental car allowance depending on what coverages the person has paid for. Insurance companies vary on their guidelines for this so check with the insurance company when you file your claim with them. Explain your situation of being in a rural area and your need to transport your children.

If you are able to get a rental car through the insurance company make sure to find out for what length of time they will pay so you will not go beyond that time period and have to pay out of your pocket.
