Car Insurance Question  If my insurance company has certain cars assigned to certain drivers in my family and another family member has an accident in a car that is assigned to someone else, are we covered? If so, do we get the coverage of the vehicle wrecked or the coverage of the person driving? Example: My 16 year olds wrecks the car assigned to me. I have a $500 deductible. He is assigned another vehicle that has a $1000 deductible. Is he covered to drive my car and do we get the $500 dedcutible?

You will have to speak to your insurance company to get the specifics of your insurance policy coverages. Typically though one or two names are listed in the "named insured" section of a car insurance policy but that does not mean that those are the only people covered under the policy. Generally if all of the household members are listed as drivers, cars can be shared. Insurance coverage usually follows the vehicle first and then the driver so that would mean the vehicle's deductible would be the one asked for, not the driver's.

Your insurance policy might have exclusions for certain drivers or other particulars that make it different from what would typically occur so that is why you need to speak to your insurance agent.
