Car Insurance Question  Could I open a policy in one state from another state?

Generally, states require you to purchase an insurance policy from a state licensed insurance company. That means if you reside in Florida you must purchase auto insurance policy with an insurance company licensed in FL. There can be exceptions, for instance if your vehicle is registered and insured in one state but you go to college in another state.

It might be possible to transfer insurance from one state to another if your insurance company is licensed in both states. To find out more state specific insurance information contact the state's insurance regulator.

If you are moving from one state to another you can get an online auto insurance quote anytime with us.
