Car Insurance Question  My vehicle was hit by a Schenectady County truck while legally parked on city street without anyone being in the vehicle. I submitted the proper claim through the city. The city insurance company claims that county vehicles are not liable for any losses. I would please like an answer.

Schenectady County might have laws that allow for county or government vehicles to be exempt from certain motor vehicle codes or are immune to liability in case of accidents. To find out for certain you should contact the city insurance company to find out why exactly they will not pay for your vehicle's damages.

If you need more information beyond what the county can give, you can get in touch with New York's Insurance Department to see what your rights are and if your damages can be reimbursed through some other manner.
