Car Insurance Question  I'm purchasing a car in Pennsylvania (PA. title) that I plan to drive to my home in Florida once the title and a 30 day in-transit tag has been issued to me by a PA. Notary Public. I know they will require a valid driver license and proof of insurance from me to complete this process. My question is this, once I buy my policy online, are the temporary insurance cards that I will print out on my PC really going to be accepted by most, if not all notaries in PA.? Im concerned, because I called one notary in Lancaster, PA. that claimed not to accept anything as proof of insurance, if it was printed from the internet, in other words, on my PC.

This ever changing world makes it hard for everyone to catch up to its speed. I remember when buying a policy online with an electronic signature was considered impossible, now we make everything possible.

Your temporary ID card that is printed from the internet looks just like the temporary ID card we print at our office and mail to you or fax to you. Some notaries won't accept a temporary ID card. You are able to print your application at the point of sale too. A few days after your policy is confirmed we mail you a final declaration page (with some companies) .

If they still need proof they can contact us at 1-800-964-4859 and a licensed representative will be able to give a statement or satisfy their needs.

I was in a similar situation 4 years ago with a vehicle I purchased in Connecticut and drove back to Florida. The notary was not concerned, nor did they ask for proof of coverage. They only wanted me to prove that I am who I say I am and that I had the money due for exchange of ownership. Insurance is usually more of a concerned of the entity that is registering the vehicle (Department of Motor Vehicles).
