Car Insurance Question  My brother who lives in another state wants to give my 16 year old daughter a car that he is still making payments on, how do we go about getting insurance for this car or can we be covered at all. I can not outright buy the car from my brother for my daugther.

Since your brother owns the vehicle and he lives out of state it might be difficult to insure the car in your state because it first will need to be registered in your state. You should contact the Department of Motor Vehicles, or similar agency, for your state and see if or how you can register the vehicle there.

The next problem might be getting insurance since many insurance companies do not allow for you or your daughter to insurance a vehicle they do not own since there is no "insurable interest". Depending on what state you reside in though we might be able to help you through our partner, Esurance who does allow for people to insure someone else's vehicle.
