Car Insurance Question  My car broke-down almost 2 yrs ago and I didn't bother to repair it as I didn't need a car or drive myself. As a result, I stopped paying my insurance company, and also didn't bother to renew my expired Kentucky drivers license. I now live in Oklahoma and my broken car has expired Oklahoma tags. I want to repair my car, and drive it, but I don't know how to go about doing it. It'll be of immense help if you guys can guide me.

If you have not already obtained an Oklahoma license you need to make sure you do not have any outstanding issues with your old Kentucky driver's license so that you can get the OK license without any problems. If you already had an Oklahoma driver's license, you many renew a Class D license that has not expired in excess of three years at the Department of Public Safety.

You will need to renew the registration on the vehicle as well. To do so contact the Motor vehicle Division (phone number is 800-522-1865) or a tag agency, to find out what specific penalties you might have for expired tags and on information on how to renew them now.

With regards to getting the required 10/20/10 liability insurance, it will help if you had filled out an Affidavit of Non Use in lieu of liability insurance which could be submitted instead of liability verification so that a non-use decal would be issued for you to place on your vehicle.

It might be difficult to find insurance due to the fact that your former insurance appears to have canceled due to non-payment but we can try to help find you a car insurance quote to fit your needs.
