The Ohio State law requires motor vehicle financial responsibility in the minimum amount of $12,500 for bodily injury or death to one individual in any one accident, $25,000 for bodily injury for two or more individuals in any one accident and $7,500 for injury to the property of others in any one accident. This financial responsibility (FR) law is not a compulsory automobile insurance thus no motorist is forced to buy auto liability insurance. The law does require drivers to be insured or have other arrangements to pay or injuries and damages they cause in the event of a crash. FR must be maintained and should be proven to the OH Bureau of Motor Vehicles in one of several ways. For more information you can go to Ohioinsurance.org.
