Car Insurance Question  In an auto insurance premium rental is listed under optional coverage. Why can't we use that coverage if your car is going to be fixed for certain amount of time at a repair shop? Thank You

When one purchases the optional rental car coverage through their insurance company generally it is noted in the wordage that the rental car use would only be for during the time of a covered loss. Thus if your vehicle is being repaired due to an accident that your insurance is either paying for the damages on or you are waiting on your settlement due to your car being declared a total loss you typically can take advantage of this coverage.

The wording of "due to a covered loss" is what does not allow you to use this insurance coverage to get reimbursed for a rental car while you are having your car repaired for other reasons. If you purchased this coverage and your vehicle is in the repair shop being fixed due to a covered loss contact your insurance company and request information on why you would not be eligible for this coverage.
