What you described are public claims adjusters, they are people who can use their extensive knowledge about insurance to help consumers get a fair settlement with their insurance company. Unfortunately, public claims adjusters work only home or property damage claims and are not allowed to handle auto claims, bodily injury claims or third-party claims. If you have filed your claim but do not believe the settlement being offered is fair you have a few options. You can get a lawyer or most insurance polices allow for you to get an independent arbitrator or appraiser. An arbitrator has experience in insurance claims and will help determine if the settlement you offered is fair. If you instead decide on an appraiser usually your policy provisions allow that both you and your insurance company select competent appraisers. If they do not agree on the amount due for the loss then an umpire is selected to help hammer out the differences. California's Department of Insurance can help you with other consumer questions regarding auto insurance claims. There might be a company in Ventura County that does what you are requesting that we are unaware. If so the CA DOI can likely help you find them.
