Car Insurance Question  I have a car that is not paid off that was in a hail storm. I received estimates on how much is would cost to repair the car. Who receives the check to pay for the damages - 1. The person who is paying the car note or 2. The lien-holder or 3. the car insurance company?

In most states it is allowable for the insurance company to make the check payable to the insured and any lien holder or even make the repair facility the payee. So it could be any of the three entities you listed or a combination of a couple of them.

If the check for your hail damage is made out to both you and the lien holder you will likely have to meet up with them to have them endorse it so you can use the money for the repairs. To find out how your insurance company plans to prepare the settlement check, ask your insurance agent or claims adjuster.
