Some states, including North Carolina, allow insureds to purchase uninsured motorist property damage coverage as party of their policy. If it is uninsured motorist property damage that you have, you should be able to claim the accident under it. If you only have uninsured motorist bodily injury coverage you could not. You should contact your insurance agent to make certain that your insurance company's guidelines allow for a hit and run accident to be claimed under the uninsured motorist property coverage category instead of Collision coverage. Insurance companies and their rules for this can differ.
